It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Marlene Ann Gould (Budiselick), a devoted wife, stepmother, grandmother, educator, and co-novelist. Marlene passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, knowledge, and dedication.
Marlene is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. William S. Gould, and her cherished stepchildren, Dr. Aiden S. V. Gould (CAPTAIN Michael J. Spielman), Ezra P. W. Gould, and grandson United States Naval Academy Midshipman Evan W. Spielman. Born in Bellingham, Washington, in 1949, Marlene graduated from the University of Washington in 1971, where she spent four decades as a 7th Grade English teacher mentoring nearly 5,000 students at Monroe Middle School in Monroe, WA. After retirement, she taught English at Shan Tou University in Guangdong, China.
Marlene co-authored eleven novels and numerous medical papers with her husband during their nearly forty years together.
Marlene was preceded in death by her loving parents, Matt and Sylvia (Tomich) Budiselick; and her sister Shirley Budiselick. Marlene also left behind countless friends.
