Marlies Meier McKibbin ("Marlee") Obituary

Marlies "Marlee" Meier McKibbin passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025. She was born on March 23, 1938, to William and Elizabeth Meier.

Marlee married Bruce McKibbin in 1962. They shared a joyful and adventurous marriage until Bruce's passing in 2015. Together they raised two sons, Bill and Tom, and built a life rich in traveling abroad, sailing the San Juan Islands, and spending cherished time with friends and family.

An energetic and passionate entrepreneur, Marlee owned a successful women's clothing boutique in Seattle's University Village, and a consignment store in Lake Forest Park. She thrived in her work, treasuring the connections she made with her customers and fellow shop owners.

Marlee and Bruce were devoted grandparents to Erin and Libby, who brought immense joy to their lives. Their love and involvement in the girls' lives were a testament to their deep commitment to their granddaughters.

Beyond her family life, Marlee was a dedicated and tireless volunteer at the Seattle Yacht Club. Her decades of service earned her the prestigious Lifetime Distinguished Service Award, recognizing her exceptional contributions to the Club. Her involvement spanned many roles, including President of the Women's Group (1988-89), Opening Day Admiralette (1998), and active participation in numerous committees: Opening Day of Boating, House, New Members Activities, New Membership, Entertainment, and the Special People's Cruise. She also brought warmth and joy as the Sunshine Chair for both the Drama and Women's Groups, and helped host beloved events like the Children's Christmas and Easter parties.

Known for her zest for life and radiant positivity, Marlee greeted the world with energy and enthusiasm. When asked how she was doing, her answer was almost always, "Fabulous!"

Marlee is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and William, and her beloved husband Bruce. She is survived by her sons Bill (Kim) and Tom (Bowvi); granddaughters Erin and Libby; her siblings Oathmar (Marlene), Diane (Mike), and Betty (Rick); special friend and companion Bill Frietag; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity in honor of Marlee. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Seattle Yacht Club on Sunday, January 11 from 1 - 4 pm, so friends and family can come together and share stories of her fabulous life.

Marlee's legacy of love, service, and joy will live on in all who knew her.
