AZ - Maryellen "Mel" O'Neill was born on June 15, 1932, in Bismark, North Dakota, and passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, in Chandler, Arizona, surrounded by her family and friends. She was 92 years old.
Mel was preceded in death by her husband Jim O'Neill; her parents, Angela and Paul Dempsey and her grandson, Casey Ballard. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Brian Ballard; her grandchildren, Megan and Kyle Ballard; her son, Patrick O'Neill; and her grandchildren, Kelsey and Michael O'Neill.
Throughout her life, Mel had a deep love for life itself. She was known for her work ethic, engaging conversations and unrelenting curiosity. One of Mel's great loves was time spent at Hood Canal with friends and family. A life long learner, she embraced knowledge and new experiences, her family and friends will miss her deeply but grateful in the many cherished memories of the time they shared with her.
Private burial services to be held at Holyrood Cemetery, Shoreline, WA.
