Nancy Carolyn Buck, 88, passed peacefully with family by her side, on Friday, January 3rd, 2025.
Nancy was born in Seattle, Washington in 1936 to Burt and Sue Pride, the oldest of two children.
Nancy attended St. Mary's grade school in Seattle and Holy Names High school in Seattle. She remained a patron of Holy Names all her life. She recently discussed with her younger brother Burt, fond memories growing up in the Dose Terrace/Mt. Baker neighborhood in South Seattle, and where she met her future husband.
In 1956 Nancy married Frank Buck, and they shared 68 years together. They raised a daughter and four sons in the Rainier Beach and Skyway areas in the south end and were active in the early days of St. Paul's church where their kids attended grade school and they started many lifelong friendships.
The kids recall numerous birthday, Halloween, Christmas and New Years Eve parties and events that Frank and Nancy celebrated with their steadfast friends the Moffats, Cappettos, Adams and Carolans over the decades. And many events with Frank's brothers and sister, nieces and nephews and extended family. She also drew strength in recent years from great friendship and conversations with Jill, Joyce and Ruth.
Nancy worked at Seafirst Bank (now Bank of America) after raising her children. She often snow skied with friends, taking the ski bus to Snoqualmie pass for night skiing. She and Frank made dozens of trips to Hawaii over the years and they also loved visiting Seaside and Cannon Beach, Oregon.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Frank (89); her brother, Burt Pride (Patty), daughter Kathy (Greg); and sons Keith (Gwen), Frank (Debra), Timothy and Steven (Kelly); grandchildren Matt (Joana), Tom (Jessica), Nicole Buck and Keoni Giauque and great-grandchildren Magnolia and Knox Buck.
A private family burial will be held on January 24, at Holyrood cemetery in Shoreline.
