Norah Carse Obituary

Washington - Norah Carse, 88, passed away August 18, 2021, from congestive heart failure. Norah is survived by four children, Catharine Duffy (Craig), Gaye Llewellyn (Robert), Eric Llewellyn (Traci) and Dr. Amy Llewellyn; grandchildren, Shaila Austria, Colin Duffy, Ryan Llewellyn, and Connor Llewellyn; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Turner, Julien. Norah's parents, Stewart and Jane "Jean" Carse; brother, Stewart Carse, Jr.; and son, Blaik Llewellyn, all preceded her in death.

Norah was born in Belfast, County Antrim, Northern Ireland on November 27, 1932. Her family moved to the United States in 1935 due to the expansion of the Irish linen business in the United States. She attended junior high and high school in White Plains, New York. After two years at Maryland College for Women, she married 1st Lt. Coy Eugene Etheridge and became accustomed to many military moves. Coy was killed in a plane accident in Korea in 1956. Norah remarried in San Francisco in 1965 to Dr. Gene Albert Llewellyn, and gained a total of five children, whom she helped raise with love and devotion. That marriage ended in divorce in 1993.

Norah enjoyed being active in the many communities in which she lived. While living in Sammamish, Washington, she was a member of the American Association of University Women, served on the board of Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park, and was a devoted prayer group member at Bellevue Presbyterian Church.

Norah will be remembered by her friends and family for her spunky, enthusiastic nature, intellect, sarcastic wit, and her wonderful meals full of good discussions and laughter. Her knitting, book club, and bridge friends can attest to her love of vibrant discussions and laughter.

For her 50th high school reunion at 68, she herself wrote, "Been there, done that is the story of my lifelots of joy, some sorrow, more ups than downs; lived all over the country; filled with enriching experiences."

Norah's life and legacy will be celebrated by her family at a future time.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be directed to The Seattle Humane Society, Friends of Lake Sammamish, or the American Heart Association.
