WA - Patricia Kay Drew died peacefully, surrounded by family, after a recurring cancer. She was 79.

Patty was born in Seattle, to Benjamin and Adele Werner. She attended Franklin High School in Seattle, and Washington State University. She worked at Boeing where she met her husband Prentis Drew. They bought a house in Kirkland, Washington where they enjoyed each other's company for over 53 years, in what many have called "a love for the ages".

Patty's lifelong pursuit was helping family, kids, and her community. During her 20 years working at the Bellevue College pre-toddler program, she taught 18- to 24-month-olds and their families, and gave children's-book lectures to new parents, inspiring a generation of readers.

Patty was also active at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church [Bellevue] and St. Luke's Lutheran Church [Bellevue]. For decades, she was integral to the local Congregations for the Homeless program, providing the homeless with a path to stable living, and to the Congregations for Kids backpacks program, providing low-income families with school supplies.

Patty loved reading, skiing, boating, travel, music, gardening, caregiving, and planning family gatherings. She also worked at the Sur La Table cooking school in Kirkland, assisting professional chefs. Her cookbook library is vast, and her Christmas salmon chowder is legendary. But her greatest joy was time spent with family and friends. They treasured conversations with her, in which she generously shared her sparkling self: her laughter, wit, patience, cooking advice, boundless interest in their lives, and her deep and unconditional love.

She will be deeply missed by many, including her husband Prentis Drew; her daughters Emily Drew and Sarah [Jon] Wiggs; her sister Kathy [Steve] Hunter; her two granddaughters; and her cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held December 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Bellevue, Washington.
