WA - Patricia Keeling Kelly, a woman of grace, faith, and devotion, died peacefully on September 21, 2025, in Seattle. She was 93½.
Born March 1, 1932, in Portsmouth, Virginia, Patricia was the daughter of Oscar and Ferne Keeling. A Kappa Gamma Pi award recipient, homecoming queen, and graduate of Seattle University with a degree in Business, she joined Frederick & Nelson's Executive Training Program after graduation, having also served on the company's College Board. Patricia embodied elegance and quiet strength throughout her life.
At Seattle University, she met John Kelly. They married in 1955 and shared nearly 70 devoted years together, passing just nine days shy of their anniversary.
At the center of Patricia's life was her family. She raised six children: Katie Kelly Meehan (Tim) Walla Walla, Colleen Kelly Mastor (Mike) Spokane, Shannon Kelly McCambridge (Bob) Seattle, John Kelly Jr. (Kelly) Seattle, Mary Kelly Bordewick (Bob) Minneapolis, and Joseph Kelly (Mary) Spokane, and delighted in her 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was the heart of her family, known for her warmth, unfailing encouragement, and belief in the dignity of every person.
A woman of intelligence and deep Catholic faith, Patricia was good to God and had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. She served generously in numerous parish guilds and church organizations with humility, including the Catholic Childhood Guild, St. Ann's Infant Home, the Greater Gonzaga Guild, the St. Gerard Guild, and the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre.
Pat loved business, literature, gardening, and travel. Her adventures took her to six continents and to homes in the Philippines, Germany, and across the United States including Virginia, South Carolina, Connecticut, Washington, Maryland, Colorado, Minnesota, and Idaho.
She is survived by her husband, John; her children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; and her brothers, David Keeling of St. Paul and John Keeling of Seattle.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bridget Parish on November 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception for family and friends. Private interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at St. Bridget Parish on November 19, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
Patricia will be remembered for her elegance, devotion, sense of humor, compassion and above all, for the enduring love she gave so freely to those around her. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
