Washington - Patricia Aline Scott, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and lifelong supporter of the Northwest art scene, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, after a short illness. She was 78.
Born Patricia Bobbitt on August 19, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Frank and Ruth Bobbitt. Her father's military service took the family first to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, before they settled in Seattle, Washington—the city that would become her lifelong home.
Pat graduated from the University of Washington, where she earned her degree and developed a deep appreciation for the arts that would shape her life and career. After graduation, she joined the Francine Seders Gallery in Greenwood, where she worked for more than 40 years. Here she made dear friends and championed the work of countless Pacific Northwest artists.
It was in Seattle that she met her husband, Bradford Prentice Scott. They had their first date at the Blue Moon Tavern in the University District. Together, they raised two sons, Francis (Linn) and Morgan, instilling in them the same curiosity and appreciation for the art that so enriched her life.
She will be remembered for her kindness, her boundless support of others, her loyalty to PG Tips Tea, her voracious reading, and her enduring love of art in all its forms.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Brad, and her parents, Frank and Ruth Bobbitt. She is survived by her sons Francis and Morgan; her sister and closest friend, Jennifer(Jenny) Vaught of Portland, Oregon, her daughters-in-law Allison and Shannon, and her grandchildren Bailey (13), Parker (10), and Meryl (2).
A private celebration of Pat's life in her home surrounded by some of her favorite works of art will be held at a later date. Contributions to the Volunteer Park Trust, the Arboretum Foundation, or a local arts organization in her memory would be welcome. Beyond donations, the family, and no doubt Pat, would suggest borrowing a book from your local library, visiting an art gallery, or spending a quiet moment walking outdoors. She will be deeply missed.
