Gig Harbor, Washington - Matriarch. Pettie and feisty. Devoted and passionate. Words fail to adequately describe this woman we loved. Patricia (Pat) Pearl Farrell Widrig graced this earth for 87 years but her impact will live on in the family she loved. Pat died February 20, 2021 after a life filled with adventure, beauty and strength. She was born to Hubert and Pearl Farrell in 1934 in Seattle, Washington, graduated from Holy Names Academy in 1951, married James (Jim) Murrin Widrig in 1955 and settled in Gig Harbor. The family they created includes Karen (Pickett), Tim, Nancy, Jody (Matson), and Keenan; followed by ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Although small in stature, Pat's spirit was boundless. She was devoted to family, active in local politics, dedicated to equality and loved gourmet cooking - leading to her own business, Gig Harbor Chutney. After serving on the Pierce County Board of Equalization, she worked at the Washington State Employment Security Department in Olympia until 1996.
Pat and Jim both loved the world of art, music and travel - and their family. That family now carries her legacy of beauty, strength and devotion forward in her honor. Please consider donating to Seattle Union Gospel Mission or Wounded Warriors in lieu of flowers, both causes dear to mom's heart.
