Patrick J. Russell, whose love affair with computers (as well as much else) dates from the punch-card era, died suddenly and unexpectedly on April 20, 2025. He was born October 19, 1947 in Seattle to Mary and Ralph Russell. He grew up in Seattle and Bellevue, and graduated from Newport High School, 1966. Always interested in science and math, he graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering, in 1971. He would go on to a 40-year career in IT at Peoples Bank and Darigold. He was intensely interested in current events, history, science, Sci Fi, and tech. Active for a time in local Democratic politics, he wrote opinionated and well-informed blogs as Sigma 5. His thoughtful letters were frequently published in the Seattle Times. Patrick was predeceased by his parents and his brother Danny and sister Elizabeth. He is survived by his siblings Michael (Elana), Joseph (Cheryl), James (Steven Blier) and Katherine (Randy Miller), their four children and two grandchildren.
