Paul Warren Soelberg Obituary

Paul Warren Soelberg

On October 12, 2023, Paul Warren Soelberg of Renton, Washington died, after a difficult four month battle from pneumonia with MRSA, complicated by a bout of covid that had left his lungs badly damaged.

A native of Chehalis, Washington, he attended W. F. High School, where he found an early love for bluegrass music, working while a student as "The Voice of KITI" a local, then fledgling radio station that featured country music. Following high school, he obtained a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Washington.

He pursued his love of country music - especially the "real" country music, Appalachian blue grass - and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he engaged in what became a life-long love of country music. There he worked as a publicist for Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner, and wrote liner notes for RCA records. He went on to work in Nashville for many years as a publicist in the music industry with all the greats such as Earl Scruggs and Lester Flatt of the Foggy Mountain Boys, the Carter family, Johnny and Joan Cash, and Charlie Pride.

Paul was fortunate in the many rich relationships he formed with people with whom he had worked over the years. His friends and family remember him as a man of energy and enthusiasm, of kindness and generosity and a man who loved words and music. His friends of many years recall him as a fighter, a trickster, generous and kind, and a gentleman whose mischievous nature, infectious laugh and fierce determination will be missed by all who knew him.

Following a Committal Service, Paul's ashes were buried at Saint Anne's Episcopal Church in Reston, Virginia.
