Peter Chance Obituary

Peter Chance, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024, at the age of 85. He was surrounded by his wife of 56 years, Beth, and his loving daughters, Molly and Katie.

Born on June 16, 1938, in Portland, Oregon, to Del and Catherine Chance, Peter lived a life full of adventure, dedication and love. He attended the University of Oregon, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. After college, Peter joined the U.S. Navy, serving as a medic for the Marine Corps stationed in Okinawa, Japan.

In 1965, Peter moved to Seattle and started his own firm as a commercial roofing manufacturer's representative. In Seattle, he met his true love and future bride, Elizabeth Beattie. They settled in Bellevue, where they raised their daughters Molly and Katie.

An avid outdoorsman, Peter's passions extended beyond his professional life. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and (in his twenties) mountain climber. A great dog lover, his black Labrador retrievers were his loyal pets and hunting companions, always by his side. His love for adventure also fueled his enthusiasm for riding motorcycles and flying planes. After Peter's retirement, he and Beth moved to the Lake Chelan area. Throughout the years, Pete and Beth enjoyed international travel with their lifelong friends.

Peter was known for his generosity, kindness and his remarkable ability to make people feel special and appreciated. He had a terrific sense of humor, and his presence brightened the lives of everyone he met.

His love for his family was always felt and his grandchildren brought him immense pride and joy. Peter is survived by his wife, Beth; his daughters, Molly (Chance) Batte and her husband, Hank, (Gracie and Peter) and Katie (Chance) Bowden and her husband, Brandon (Chance and stepson Blaize).

Peter Chance will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him including longtime friends, business colleagues and most of all, family. His legacy of love, adventure, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those he touched. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 13, in Lake Chelan, Washington.
