Auburn, Washington - Phyllis Barbara (nee Robbecke) Hochwalt passed away peacefully from Alzheimer's on March 3, 2021, surrounded by her loving family, our awesome hospice team and doting caregivers.
Phyllis was born in Tacoma, WA on December 30, 1932, the 5th of 7 children of Florence and Walter Robbecke. She grew up in the Pt. Defiance area, graduating from Stadium High School in 1950.
Shortly after graduation, she met a young Airman stationed at McChord Field - Gene - and so began 70 years of marriage! Mom enjoyed the military lifestyle and the community if fostered. The service took them to Florida, Alaska, Virginia and Ohio. After retiring from the Air Force, the family made it back to the Northwest and settled in Edmonds, WA. Following Phyllis' retirement, she and Gene RV'd around the country, falling in love with the Sun City area outside of Phoenix. They spent nearly 10 years there and returned to the Northwest in 2014.
Phyllis leaves behind her "sweetie" Gene; brother, Fred (Audrey); son, Joe (Debbie); daughter Jeannie (Jeff); grandkids, Evan, Spencer and Jordan; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and many lifelong friends.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Angel Haven Estates for their loving care of Phyllis until the end, and their continuing care of Gene. The family is also grateful for the support and guidance of the CHI Franciscan Hospice team.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Phyllis' honor to the Alzheimer's Association, Catholic Community Services, or to a charity of your choice.
