Raymond W. Coffey (Ray) Obituary

WA - Raymond (Ray) Watkins Coffey passed away surrounded by family, leaving a legacy of faith, service, and devotion to community and country. Born December 6, 1949, at Sand Point Naval Air Station in Seattle, Washington, Ray grew up in Seattle and attended Lincoln High School, where he excelled as a saxophone player, Drum Major, and All-City Band member. He met the love of his life, Linda Martinsen, in high school. They married in 1973 and built a life centered on faith and family. Ray served in the U.S. Naval Reserve and Army Reserve, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He also served in the Washington State Guard and, through U.S. Volunteers, was promoted to Brigadier General and Major General, advocating for veterans and overseeing military funeral honors. In civilian life, he was a Washington State Trooper and later spent 30 years with King County Metro. He founded Heroes' Café of Shoreline. He is survived by his wife Linda; five children, and ten grandchildren.


A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, February 28th, 2026, at 11:00 am at Westgate Chapel (22901 Edmonds Way, Edmonds, WA 98020).
