Richard August Bersin Obituary

Richard Bersin went home to be with God on December 7, 2023. He tenaciously fought a years-long illness, and passed away at Evergreen Hospice, Kirkland, Washington. He is survived by his two adult daughters, his wife, a brother and a sister.

Richard was born in Sacramento on 9-22-1950 and was raised in New Jersey. He enjoyed athletics, playing Junior Varsity basketball at Duke University under coaches Hubie Brown and Mike Krzyzewski. An avid Washington Huskies football fan for decades and enjoyed recent victories.

Richard spent his entire career in law practice. Before graduating from the University of Virginia Law School, he clerked at the Environmental Protection Agency under William Ruckelshaus. He then moved to the Northwest, practicing civil litigation in Seattle and Bellevue, first at Bogle and Gates, and then in his own practice. Most recently he associated with Inslee Best Doezie and Ryder in Bellevue, and was steadfastly supported by friends and professional colleagues throughout his illness.

Richard was a long-time member of Westminster Chapel, Bellevue.
