Richard Steven Stockinger Obituary

WA - Richard Steven Stockinger, a lifelong resident of Seattle, WA, passed away peacefully at home on Lake Cavanaugh on Monday, July 21, 2025.

He was born in Seattle on September 24, 1942, to Harry and Kaye Stockinger. Rich graduated from Blanchet High School in 1960 and from the University of Washington's Foster School of Business in 1969. On September 25, 1982, Rich married Sue Schroers, formerly Lui (Blanchet High School Class of 1963). They were actively involved in the Seattle Catholic Engaged Encounter for 42 years and attended Assumption and St. Bridget Catholic Churches in Seattle, where they sang in the choir for many years.

Rich worked for Boeing, the Seattle Parks Department, and as the Personnel Manager for Seattle City Light. After retirement, he developed an interest in real estate and became an agent, working both in Seattle and at Lake Cavanaugh Realty.

Rich loved boating, starting with a sailboat and later enjoying a pontoon boat for cruising around Lake Cavanaugh with friends and family. Golf was also one of his favorite pastimes, and he especially enjoyed teaching his grandson, Luke, how to play.

In the fall of 2021, Rich and Sue became snowbirds, spending their winters in a lovely home in Saddlebrooke, AZ, which they affectionately called their second honeymoon home.

Rich is survived by the love of his life, Sue; sister Barbara Forsberg (Joel); daughters Zina Skelly (Sean), Christine Bessire (Mark), son Erik; stepsons Todd Lui and Michael Lui (Daphne); grandchildren Matthew, Rachel, Luke, Zelda June, Emma, Sarah, Sean, Stella, and Ruby; and great-grandchildren Nautica, Owen, and Parker.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robbie and Paul, and stepson Scott (Kristen).

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on September 4th at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 4900 NE 50th St, Seattle.
