In loving memory we honor Dr. Steven Elwin Starr (78) who passed peacefully on February 20th 2023.

Steve was greatly influenced by his veterinarian father,Hugh Sawyer Starr, to become a doctor for people instead of animals.

After graduating medical school from The Ohio State University in 1971 he and his wife Carolyn traveled to Korea so Steve could fulfill his military commitment as a medical officer. Steve and Carolyn planted roots in the Pacific Northwest while he was stationed at Fort Lewis Hospital.

Steve joined Group Health Cooperative where he was a much loved family practice physician for 25 + years. As an avid sports enthusiast and great athlete himself, he discovered a passion for treating athletes. He became double boarded in Sports Medicine and opened the first sports medicine clinic at Group Health.

Steve was a dedicated father to his two daughters Stephanie and Dana. He was also an avid fisherman, huntsman and outdoor enthusiast. He spent most of his time with family and friends skiing, hiking, playing tennis and traveling He was intentional with everything he did and put a great deal of care into every decision he made. Steve enjoyed investing in the finer things in life which included sushi, tequila and wine. He was undeniably Ohio State's most loyal Buckeye football fan.

In his later years, Steve enjoyed volunteering with the Sammamish Rotary and improving his pickleball game.

Steve is survived by his wife Carolyn of 52 years, daughters Stephanie and Dana, their husbands Dan and Jake and 4 grandchildren Paige, Reese, Sawyer and Sam. Other survivors include sister Cinda Rasor, niece Renee, nephew Ryan and Uncle Rupert Starr of Columbus, Ohio and Sister and Brothers in-law Bunker and Larry Frank and Jerry Carp.

A family man to his core and a dear friend to many, he will be remembered with love in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the East Shore Unitarian Church Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 2pm.
