WA - Tatsuki Kobayashi was born in Fujimi, Japan in 1940, the oldest of four brothers. He shared stories of life in post-war Japan with special memories of her mother making jam from the family garden. At the age of 18, he came to Seattle by steamship to start an adventure-filled life.
He had many and varied jobs over the years including as a houseboy, working in the aircraft industry and eventually for the City of Seattle.
Most people will remember him for his kindness, generosity and artistry. He was a talented amateur photographer capturing wonderful photos of his beloved Salukis, llamas and the spectacular jewelry that he made. He was a flamenco afficionado and supporter of the local bellydance community.
He and his late wife, Lenore, learned the lost art of grisaille enamel work from the late Lisel Salzer.
There will be a celebration of Tatsuki's remarkable life in the spring.
