Thelma Verna Gray Obituary

WA - Thelma Verna Gray, born June 7, 1933, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, at her home of 46 years in Federal Way.

Thelma was born in Portland, Oregon and soon thereafter moved to the Seattle area, living in various locations before residing in the Rainier Valley for some twenty years. It was there she attended Franklin High School and met her first husband, James K. Anderson, the father of their two sons. She later married Darrel Gray and lived a comfortable life in their home in Federal Way.

Thelma enjoyed spending time with her family, her friends and caring for her animals; she was particularly fond of the West Highland Terrier breed for which she had several over a 50 year time span. She also looked forward to gardening and was especially proud of her flowers bordering her backyard patio.

Thelma is survived by her son, Timothy Anderson (Gloria Miller); granddaughter, Tiffany Anderson (Marco Downs), grandson, Brandon Anderson (Meagan Turner); great granddaughter, Genevieve Anderson; a niece, Cynthia Grill, and a nephew, Steven Grill; and many more relatives.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Darrel Gray; her son, James M. Anderson; her sister, Betty Grill; and her mother, Rose Boynton.

No service is planned. Donations may be made to the King County Humane Society.
