Vernie Bumgardner Obituary

WA - Vernie was born in Hartsville, S.C., to the parents of Bert Simpson and Gertrude Smith. Vernie was the 5th of 6 children. Vernie's father's job moved the family many times, in North and South Carolina. She ended up in Mount Holly, N.C., where she graduated from Paw Creek HS. Vernie worked at the American Efford Textile Mill after graduation, as a spinner, but was moved to the office. She met Harold Bumgardner at work and was soon married on September 26, 1952. They had 4 children, Luanne, Angie, Timothy, and Brian. Vernie's family moved to Bellevue, WA, in 1968. Vernie and Harold moved to Kirkland and later retired to Ocean Shores, where they lived for 19 years. Harold passed away on November 28, 2020, after 68 years of marriage. Vernie lived her last 4 years in Renton, WA, with her daughter Angie.

Vernie loved Jesus and her church so much, as well as her many friends and family. She was a loving, kind and giving mother, wife, and friend. She will be remembered and missed by all who she touched.

She is survived by 3 of her children, Luanne, Angie and Brian and her grandchildren, Clint, Amy, Ian, Erin, Wade, Rachel, Lacey, Sterling, Sydne and Jamal. Also, her great grandchildren Eileen, Clara, Jojo, Leo, Lincoln, Luna, and Serenity. She loved them all so much. Vernie still has family in North and South Carolina who she cared for, including her sister, Faye Staton, whom she loved so much. Also, two nieces who were very dear to her, Rachel Pigg and Peggy Lovingood.
