Washington - Victor (Vic to those who knew him) of Redmond, Washington, passed away on December 12, 2025 after several ongoing health issues. He was 93 and lived a full life. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his sons Robert and James; step daughters Leigh or "Alix" (Robert), Dana (Matt); bonus family Patrick, Christopher, Isabella; bonus daughter Vicki and grandchildren Eli, Sophie, Jack, Owen, and Jordan.
Victor was born in Kentucky and later moved to Flint, Michigan where his parents worked in the War Effort. After high school he joined the US Navy and was an Airborne Electronics Technician in the Airship (Blimp) Squadron. When Vic was discharged from the Navy he attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering studying Radio and Television Technology. He eventually moved to San Diego and worked for GE. That is where he met and married June and they started their family. In 1975 the Higgins family moved to Bellevue when Vic transferred to Honeywell's Marine Division and then later Alliant Techsystems before retiring.
After 35 years of marriage, Vic's wife June lost her battle with cancer. In 1999 Vic married Barbara DePonzi whom he met at a dance class. Vic's hobby for many years was as a Ham Radio Operator. He later took up filming and editing Videos (mostly grandchildren and weddings). He was deeply involved in the Boy Scouts of America serving for many years as a scout leader and also a trainer for scout leaders. He enjoyed dancing, jazz, camping, tinkering with electronic objects and Starbucks.
His greatest love was for God and his church. His devotion, service, and support were an inspiration to all. He was a loving husband and father. Vic was a humble and grateful man who never complained. Toward the end of his life he had a gift of sharing humor. His warmth and twinkling smile will be missed.
Vic was buried in a family plot at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego. There will be a Celebration of His Life on February 7 at 2:00 pm at Newport Hills Community Church, 5833-119th Ave SE, Bellevue, WA 98006.
If you would like to remember him with a donation you may support the Boy Scouts of America, Medic One Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
