WA - Victor Allen Munsen died on September 21st, 2025 at 85 years of age. Victor was born to parents Edmund A. Munsen and Evelyn A. Munsen on the 28th of June, 1940 in Seattle, WA. Victor lived most of his life in the greater Seattle area, and was a devoted husband and father. He graduated Seattle's Cleveland High in 1958 and attended the University of Washington from 1958-1959, and later from 1963-1965. In the intervening time he served in the US Air Force and was awarded the Air Force Commendation medal for his exemplary service.
Victor was married to Beverly Monica Bennard of Portland, OR in 1973, with whom he had one child, Victor Munsen.
Victor was drawn to cars his whole life, fixing them up and racing them both legally and less so. He had been engaged in amateur and semi-professional auto racing from the early 1960s through to 2005, racing Formula Ford and Sprint cars. His love of classic cars came through in his restoration of a classic Muntz Jet. He was the founder of the Muntz Jet Registry in 1988, an irregular publication tracking the history, condition and current ownership of a classic vehicle of which less than 400 were made. His initial work brought the small community of rare car owners together to swap information, to gather across the country for Muntz Jet events and discover more of the vehicles remained than initially thought.
He spent much of his life working for Boeing, where he began as a draftsman in 1965 and continued there until his retirement in 2019. His love for engineering and mechanical structures showed in his passion for the work.
Through every aspect of his life, whether it be automobiles or aviation engineering, he showed a love for creating engineering solutions for any problem he was presented, and his precise mind allowed him to excel at that. During his career he was responsible for a number of patents in the field of airframe structures design.
Victor is survived by his son, Victor Munsen and a younger brother, David Munsen.
Join us on Saturday, November 8th at 2:00pm at the Woodin Creek Kitchen and Tap to celebrate Victor's life. In lieu of flowers please consider a charitable donation to the Museum of Flight to ensure future young minds will be engaged in the fields of aviation.
