WA - William L. (Bill) Chin, 99, of Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Laura Chin.
Bill was born on June 28,1925 in Seattle to Jackman Chin and Jesse Lum. After graduating from Broadway High School, he served in the US Army with the 93rd Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron in the Central European Campaign and the Battle of the Rhineland during WWII.
After graduating from Seattle University, Bill worked at Boeing as an accountant and then later became a life and health insurance broker during which time he helped start the Oriental Restaurant Association which provided a healthcare plan for restaurant workers. For 50+ years until his retirement he served many clients in the Seattle Chinese community.
He is survived by his children Corey, Andrea and Tyler (Maiko) and grandchildren Abby Chin-Martin (Dustin), Lily Chin-Martin (Garrett) and Lauren Chin.
In lieu of flowers, Bill would have preferred donations be made to the Wing Luke Museum or to the American Parkinson's Disease Association in honor of his wife Laura.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held this summer.
