Marysville, Washington - The world lost a sweet, loving, and gentle soul on April 23, 2021. William ("Bill") Richard Peacock, aged 61, died suddenly at his home in Marysville, WA. Those closest to him knew the bravery and strength with which he faced a life of many challenges.
Bill entered the world in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1959 to father Donald Carl Peacock, mother Blanche Marie Peacock, and older sisters Kathleen ("Kathy") and Claudia. The family moved from Hawaii to Washington in 1963, and Bill spent nearly his entire life in the Puget Sound area.
Bill was a certified public accountant throughout his career after attaining his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Central Washington University, graduating as a Dean's Scholar and Magna Cum Laude. His jobs included serving as International Accounting Manager at SpaceLabs Medical, Senior Director of Finance at ICOS, and Vice President of Finance at Nautilus.
Bill was a walking contradiction of blue collar and white collar, an accountant in cowboy boots. On the weekends you would be hard pressed to find someone happier than he was when spreading manure in the garden or rewiring an entire house, which he taught himself to do by reading a textbook, while weekdays were spent working in the realm of high finance.
He gave up his dream of going to law school so he could support his family, and his sons, Ryan and Justin, were the lights of his life. He was proud of their many academic accomplishments but also taught them that life was to be lived. He was an outdoorsman, and he loved sharing those interests with his boys. He also coached their Little League teams, taught them golf, and taught them to root for his beloved Huskies (he bled purple and gold and idolized Don James). And when they found interests of their own, he was their biggest cheerleader.
Bill was truly one of the funniest people you could ever hope to meet. He loved to make people laugh, and when he would be caught being mischievous, his loud guffaw, big toothy grin, and wink were so infectious it was impossible not to join in.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Peacock and Blanche Simmons, grandmother Naomi McDonald, sister Claudia Campbell, brother Keith Marr, and "brother" and best friend Bob Randall. He is survived by his two sons, Ryan Peacock and Justin Peacock; sister Lynne Nolan (Mike Werres); sister Kathy Evola (Steve); brother Dennis Peacock (Colleen); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill will be most remembered for his ethics, emotional strength, chivalry, big heart, sharp intellect, and truly wonderful sense of humor. He deserved a full life, and we did not deserve to lose him so soon. We love you, Bill.
